Oak Harbor Washington

Whidbey Island Race Week is a full week of racing in the Pacific Northwest with a great social aspect.  Over 60 boats participated with boats from 4 states and 2 countries.  It is sailed in Penn Cove of Whidbey Island, hosted by Oak Harbor Yacht Club and is a must do event for any sailor.

Eleven races were held over the 5 days of racing in winds from 6 knots to 24 knots and temperatures from the mid 60’s to high 70’s.  The race committee plays fun tunes to the fleet as it leaves and returns from the race course starting a bit of a dancing party on the dock as boats rig and un-rig each day.

Ullman Sails provided daily awards for each class.  A new and different band played each night at the party tent as racers told lies and stories about the days racing.

Many of the fleets had very tight results and the largest fleet was a fleet of J-105’s at 13 boats.  The winner of this fleet was Kent Sisk and john Weil on Trouble Maker.   They also won the Overall 2017 Whidbey Island Race Week award.  Trouble Maker had a partial inventory of Ullman Sails.
